ÄKTA
Director of Product Design
2012–2015
Motorola Solutions engaged ÄKTA to reimagine an outdated public safety platform used by first responders.
As Director of Product Design, I led a cross-functional team in researching emergency response workflows, uncovering operational challenges and opportunities to modernize how critical information is gathered, shared, and acted upon.
The result was a unified vision for the platform, including a shared information architecture, standardized workflows, interaction models, and scalable product concepts that informed the next generation of Motorola's public safety platform.
This project included: User Research, Workflow Analysis & Mapping, Collaborative Design Workshops, UX/UI Design, Design Systems, Information Architecture & Taxonomy, and Future-State Prototyping.

The existing platform was fragmented across multiple systems that had evolved independently over time. Inconsistent workflows, terminology, and user interfaces made the platform difficult to learn, inefficient to use, and prone to user error.
The future-state platform introduced a unified information architecture, shared design language, and consistent interaction patterns across previously disconnected systems.
